The GCO is an exciting and rewarding means of being continuously involved in life-changing, world missions work. This is missions giving (in a systematic, sacrificial way) over and above our tithes and other offerings. GCO also sponsors mission trips, special projects, provides needed Vocational Ministry Scholarships, Children's Missions Savings Bonds, and MissionFest. Your giving impacts local, North America and World people in all walk of life.
Why go on mission trips when there is so much to do here?
Jesus told us to go and be witnesses to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8) Our mission at Westside is to “To bring the hope of Christ to all people.” That means here in Gainesville, in Florida, in North America and all around the world.

Dear church family and friends—
Welcome to the missions site for Westside Baptist. We believe our mandate as believers is to "bring the hope of Christ to all people." Our prayer is that everyone in our church will be engaged in missions in some way. Whether it be going, praying, giving or serving, there is much to be done.
The Great Commission tells us in Acts 1:8, "And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria and to the ends of the Earth." Our Jerusalem is right here in Gainesville. Westside is involved in local ministries such as the Women's Resource Center and Gainesville Community Ministries. We have a partnership with Harvest Ministries in east Gainesville which is a church plant from Westside.
One of the most exciting times in our church is when we can focus on the incredible things God is doing around the world. Here at Westside, we are committed to missions. We want to increase our missions activity with each passing year. Today is a day where we will actively seek to raise the awareness of our church family about missions. We want to challenge every believer to engage in missions through giving, serving, praying and going. Once you’ve gone on a mission trip, you’re never the same. God does a work inside your heart and changes something. The way you view your world is different from that time on. We believe the more people we can get involved in a mission experience, the higher we can raise the bar for our church.
Missions is more than taking God’s Word to the ends of the earth. It is also about serving Christ right here in our own backyard. Several of our community ministries are here today. Stop by their booths and talk with them. Learn about the opportunities available to you. Pray about where he wants you to serve. And then do it! Make no mistake; you are called as is every believer. The question is will you be obedient? Will you go? Will go serve? Will you pray? Will you give? Even if you cannot go, your giving has a huge impact. It will enable others to go and supports our many partnerships all over the world. I am so glad you are here today. Be ready. Listen to God’s voice as he speaks to your heart about your mission involvement.
